PLANTING

We do not plant invasive species.

Select a tree with good structure, no scuffs on the bark and root ball on grade with the root/trunk flare.

Prune canopy, remove packaging and prune roots. Dig a hole that is perfect for the root/trunk flare

to be on existing grade and wider than the roots/root ball.

Fill in the hole with fine dirt, spreading roots radially and packing gently as you go. Check in two dimensions 90 degrees from each other to make sure the trunk is vertical. Mulch and water.

This is basically how we do it. If you follow these instructions, planting can be a fun family activity. If you have different aspirations, we are happy to be involved in any capacity.
